The best DTV HD STB?

With $ no object, what is the best unit out there?

I have had this Hughes 86 unit way to long!

If it has a IR remote don't mention it!

I have been interested in the HD-300 for a year, is there anything better?

Jim,

The HD-300, which is the same STB as the LG LSS-3200A is no longer available. I do agree it was the best HD STB ever made.

Today's current model is the RCA DTC-210 and it also a great HD STB.

They are the same. I own the LSS-3200A personally and absolutely love it.

LG made the Sony HD-300.

Some people like the Sony remote better. I like both, but think you can do better with a Harmony 659 or Home Theater Master MX500 or higher.

If money is no object, get the HR10-250 HD with Tivo built in.

I said no IR remotes!

I don't care if it has a half a terabyte hard drive, with no RF remote

Three floors and 9 tv's!

Well again if money is no object, making RF work with it wouldn't be a problem...

Robert,

What do you consider to be the best attributes of the RCA DTC-210? I have a Samsung 360 I am thinking about replacing and am not really interested in TIVO.

Robert - I've heard 100 different stories on the HD300, and how it's "the same as" or "better" than very similar (if not the same) STB's. Can you give me any info on this? I'm possibly in the market for a STB, and wondering if I should look hard for a HD300, or go with the new DC210 (discounting that it's a Thompson product)

Go for the RCA DTC210. The DTC210 is an excellent STB and has caller ID an digital coax Dolby Digital out as well as optical.

Good point. I completely forgot RCA is owned by Thomson, which is a FRENCH company. Nuff said.

Woo, Hoo

I was working in Richmond Va on a Circuit City pilot project for Comcast,

doing new HD channels on the showroom floor, and walked down the

DTV STB row and there it was! A new HD-300 open box with no price tag!

I quickly found the sales Manager and he looked it up in the database and

said $239! I said is that the best you can do? He also said it wasn't there yesterday and they haven't had one in the store for a long time!

I was trying to get one on Ebay in the next two days!

I was lucky enough to walk into circuit city two weeks ago and find an open box hd 300 in perfect condition for $200 they even ordered me a remote and manual that was not with the unit for free

after reading this thread I feel even more lucky

Is there a list of DirecTV STBs with anamorphic 480i output on HD channels through s-video?

Will the RCA DTC210 do this?
