Just bought a house, looking to put together a nice little bachelor pad, including a Digital Projector. Since you are the experts, I was hoping you could help me find a great projector at a great price.

Question: If you only had $1000 to spend (not including shipping, taxes, etc.), which digital projector would YOU spend the money on?

Thanks for your responses.

Okay....

Benq 6100 - SVGA, 4:3 native, 3x color wheel, very quiet in eco mode. This is a great entry level projetor if used with an HTPC or progressive scan DVD. Built in de-interlacer is a the achilles heel - so picture with standard definition TV is not great.

Infocus X1 - SVGA, 4:30 native, 2x color wheel. This projector has been around for awhile but it is probably the most popular entry level projector out there. This is due to its good overall picture quality for the price and the faroudja de-interlacer chip that makes it the premier choice for budget Standard definition television. If I was not using an HTPC I would have gone with the X1.

These are probably the best DLP options out there in your price range. I spent $800 on my Benq and added a DIY ceiling mount and a $60 70" diagonal Da-lite screen for a total price under $900. Not too shaby...I would also suggest looking into the Optima H30 - but I have no direct experience with this projector so I will leave it to others to recommend. :)

I have the Optoma H30. I have one of the first ones out and I have been very happy with the unit. The picture is far and away better than the X1 or the 6100. Very bright and clear with great color saturation and great blacks. The price is a bit more than what you are looking to spend though, but it is worth every penny,

Come on, you know the chicks dig the projector. Better make it a decent one!

Optoma H30 - 4:3 Native (16:9 masked) 4x color wheel DDR2 DLP

Instead, InFocus is advertising the X2 on their website. What do you think?

X2 is similar to the X1 except has the + of the X1 stripped out, the ablity to do good with standard video source (ie the deinterlace chip)

So its probably much of a muchness with the 6100.
