The "Boom" Is Missing- What Am I doing Wrong?

332 Views 1 Reply 2 Participants Last post by  TV
I have a Denon AVR 4800 and the Atlantic Technology 450e THX speaker set. With the 4800 in either the THX or Dolby Digital mode I am not getting the "booms" I expected in explosin and like scenes. As far as I can tell I have all the setings correct on both the 4800 and the AT 452 PBM 15" sub, but no real "booms". The sub is working but......My source is a DCT-100 and I have the audio set to "Auto Select". What might I be doing wrong?

Have you calibrated the system? Does the subwoofer *boom* well enough

with other sources?(DVD,CD..ect)

If ti works well with all sources except the HD decoder--it may be a

setup issue with the decoder. If it doesn't seem to provide the amount of bass oomph you want from ANY source...

1) set all your speakers to *small* in the receiver's setup menu

2) experiment with woof location. Often, the corner nearest the key listening positions works well---esp. if it's a corner with no adjacent

boundaries.

3) be sure to recalibrate the system whenever you move the subwoofer or try alternate speaker-size settings.
