The Criterion Collection - where are they?

When DVD first came out, Criterion quickly adopted the format within the first year.

What's their approach this time? I'd be quite surprised if they went with blu-ray.

I think most of the studios that chose Blu-ray didn't know it was going to be so inferior to HD DVD. I'll gladly buy HD versions of Brazil and This Is Spinal Tap from Criterion, if and when they come out.

Wrong. They released their first DVD in late 1999.

Anyway, this has been already discussed. The Search button is your friend:

Months ago, I asked them through their website and they told me this:

As far as HD resolution video goes, we have been making high-definition masters of our titles for several years and are ready for whichever format turns out to be the best choice. As the formats continue to develop, we will decide which is the best way for us to proceed and hopefully begin releasing titles. No titles have been decided in this point of time. At the point that we have made any decisions, they will first be revealed in our monthly newsletter. I hope this helps, and please feel free to contact us with any future questions or concerns.
