Hi All,

I emailed Dish the other day about the 211 and got a response back.

They basically said that the 211 has not gone to mass production yet. Made some comments about DishWire and some comments about requiring an Integrated HDTV to use it.

So the 211 is still on, but we just don't know when its going to show up!

Mitsubishi has actually been the hold-up on this. DISH is ready to go with it. This info is 100% reliable. Comes from the top end of E*. They are still confident it will happen in 2004.

It will be Firewire only. No Havi. Guide info will be passed through and viewable, though in a more basic form.

Any update as to whether the 211 will work with the JVC 30K so that owners of non-Mits sets can use the JVC decoder via it's component outputs.

The 211 only outputs though the Firewire port, it has to be connected to a firewire controller unit. I think that is the simplest description that I can give. The JVC DVHS is not a control unit, so you cannot use the 211 just with an JVC DVHS.

There are a few firewire control devices currently on the mardet; Mits Promise Module, Mits/Hit*/RCA integrated HDTVs, etc..

The Samsung SIRt165 is only design to handle DVHS decks

control, so there is no remote, if there is could you use it to tune the thing without an integrated tuner.

of course they could easier stop it from working with dvhs machine couldn't they by putting them on teh revoke list? or design it to not pass signal to dvhs machine in general by using the av/c identifiers
