An excellent film. Nick Nolte just makes this happen. Maybe I'm just more sensitive now to these things (thanks to this forum) , but it was immediately obvious how the lighting, film, camera techniques came together to create a certain roughness of style that complemented Nolte's character and made this a most enjoyable and entertaining film.
I have one question on the editing and would like other opinions -- maybe it's just me. At the end of most scenes, right at the moment before scene change, the image froze for an instant. At first I though it was me, but after a while it was quite intentional -- but it's not clear what exactly the director is trying to accomplish with this. Any thoughts?
