The Great Universal SD Dump?

449 Views 1 Reply 2 Participants Last post by  rlsmith
Has anyone else noticed it looks like Universal seem to slashing prices on the DVD counterparts of their HD DVD titles?

I was at Target over the weekend and they had 12 Monkeys, American Werewolf in London, Bourne Supremacy, Chronicles of Riddick, Cinderella Man, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Fast and the Furious, and Last Samurai SD DVDs seemingly all in one section with price cuts.

Also the last time I was a Wal Mart there was a bunch of End of Days SDs in their $5.50 "dump bin" like they just took the whole stack off the rack and threw them on top.

Maybe this a sign of Universal's faith in HD DVD...? :)

You see this sort of thing at Target and Wallmart all of the time, I doubt that it means anything about the studio's faith in HD DVD.

What it does say is that the SD DVD market has become incredibly price-competitive for catalog titles especially. The studios should be doing everything they can to further the new hd formats.
