This is a common issue caused by various Cable and Satellite STBs with flat panel TVs that have little or no overscan. THX mode forces the TV into zero overscan mode so this line will become visible, but it's a problem with the signal you're getting from your cable STB. The TV is just accurately displaying the signal it's getting from Comcast, it's not a fault of the TV. It's a problem with your cable provider. And you're using the wrong picture mode for cable TV.

THX is more for watching DVDs and Blu-Ray discs. Using it with Cable or Satellite will expose abnormalities along the right side (your green line) and even along the top of the screen on some broadcasts (the data strip included in some broadcasts and commercials).

You should probably use Custom mode for watching HD TV. If that green line is still present along the right side of the screen, you can either try using Component cables instead of HDMI, or try setting the TV's HD Size setting to HD Size 1 which will slightly zoom the image and should hide that green line. HD Size 2 forces the TV into 1:1 mode (zero overscan) and exposes the line.

Seems odd that you can't change the picture mode and picture size independently on a $2,800 television; can't he keep using THX but set the picture to 16:9 instead of screenfit?

For Panasonic's THX mode to adhere to the established THX standard, the screen needs to be in 1:1 mode so it displays ALL of the image that the director of the movie intended, so THX mode automatically defaults to HD Size 2 as it should.

If one wants to zoom the picture 5% and hide some of the image around the perimeter and make the image a little softer, he's welcome to use another picture mode other than THX. Or buy an S1 which has Cinema mode instead of THX.
