this movie was on Ebert and Ropert's 10 worse film's of 2006 list, not sure if that means anything other then its prolly not gonna wow you with MQ.
I usually make it a rule of thumb to think completly opposite of them.

Why was it relased earlier than the projected date??

On the other hand next gen dvds should be released like weeks before the dvd version is released.
I am looking forward to watching it. Even if those clowns did not like it!

yea, i had to stop watching this like 30 min into it, costner just didn't fit the role, and kutcher...stick to punkd. it should look pretty good though that'd be the big advantage to iton blu
I usually agree with Ebert and Roeper, but not this time. Saw this one in the theater with 2 other couples and we all loved it.
Kevin Smith was subbing for Roger Ebert on his show while he was recovering from surgery and he gave this one a thumbs up. I'll probably rent it.
let's give ebert some credit. Dark city was his fave film of 98' I believe. That's sweet in my book...

We just added the BD to our netflix queue. When we first saw the trailer we thought it was "The Perfect Storm II"...

I saw the movie in the theater and loved it. It was one of the better movies I have seen in quite some time. I am planning on buying the Blu-ray disc.
Any reviews on this BR disc yet by anyone?

I also loved that film!!!

Do you have the DVD? The commentary track with Roger Ebert is one of the best I have ever heard. I may not agree with him on some of his ratings but I will give him credit, he sure knows his movies.

I usually DVR their show that's on here at 12:00 am Sunday night. Roeper said it was An Officer and a Gentleman in the water, but not as good. This is a rental for me for sure.
It looks fantastic. I'm very pleased with this one. Not only does it have great 3D pic quality but it's another Disney release with a 24 bit/48khz uncompressed PCM killer soundtrack. The only noticeable grain is during a training montage scene which is supposed to be like a handheld camera seen through their eyes. It's completely intended and adds a little more grit. Not intrusive at all. The orange colors of the Coast Guards various equipment, uniforms, vehicles etc.. look quite striking against the dark navy blues of the sea and other areas.

In addition it has the "Filmmaker Q & A" feature. It contains a very elaborate insert on how to use this feature. Sort of like an interactive pip commentary. I haven't played around with this yet. The disc also contained a trailer for "The Prestige" & Invincible. The Prestige trailer looked great even though it was an MPEG2 transfer. The retail version is gonna be AVC which seems to handle grain better than MPEG2. I mention that because the trailer seemed a little grainier than I remember in the theatre. Still a must buy for me...it was one of the best films of 06 IMO.

Footnote:It's also 1:85:1 ratio for those who like to fill up their screens.

This was a great disc, and not a bad movie at all. Definitely not in "worst movie of the year" category. I've seen much worse than this! Finally got around to watching this last night.

Audio and video was outstanding, and the colors (as mentioned above) just popped.
