So..... after being bit by the home theater bug and joining this forum about five years ago, I decided to finally post my setup. Not really sure if it shows in the pictures, but the room is kind of off-center, so it's kind of a goofy arrangement.

Surrounds + sub still aren't hooked up yet... I haven't been motivated to get the neighbors fired up yet, and honestly, my front 3 are enough for me at the moment in this little room (coming from a basement where I didn't have to worry about letting my gear stretch it's legs a little bit. It's kind of sad; I miss my old Epson projector and the freedom to crank movies :'( Ah well, I at least have a solid tv now instead).

It's modest compared to a lot of your setups, without a doubt, but I'm pretty happy for being just out of college.

Samsung 40b630 lcd

Onkyo 702

Athena F2.2's

Athena C1

Athena F1's

Mirage S12

Mac mini 1.66 ghz duo

Xbox 360

Harmony 880

Monster power center thing

Cable box

1 tb WD mybook

350 gb WD mybook

Apple Airport Extreme

The Wishlist: Get another amp to hook my Aura Pro Bass shakers up again, PS3 or other Blu Ray player, 52" Samsung (yeah, I bought mine a month ago... re-read the title of my thread).

Of course, when I get a bigger place... bigger/better everything

Thoughts/suggestions/comments/questions? I didn't wait five years to post to get crickets in response!

Welcome, sixguns!

Lol, no crickets here, just wait til the boys get all warmed up...

I like it, very clean and classy. That stand looks sweet! Have you tried bringing out your fronts past the stand to see if it sounds better? Also, what kind of amp do you have in mind?

Cheers!

Good, because who REALLY likes crickets anyways? haha. The stand is a definite upgrade over my coffee table - It took me about forever to find something with a center channel spot like that, and I can't complain too much for the price point (about $330 to my door. not bad). I'm intentionally leaving my fronts near the wall since it's literally right next to the door... I'm trying to avoid coming in, catching something on the speaker and knocking it over.

Not too sure on the amp since it's a ways off yet. Something small that will drive them well, like a sub amp maybe? Haven't really gotten into researching yet. Any suggestions? I'll only be running two Aura Pro's for a while as they should be plenty for just my couch.

Thanks - how's it look in black? You should throw a picture up. I got mine through Amazon...Price Pro's maybe? What about you? Did you have any damage on yours when it arrived?

Thanks man, I appreciate it. It's a for sure upgrade over my 19in tv/vcr I started out with. I've been slowly building it over the past four years, so there's definitely a sense of ownership/pride in what I built. It's a pretty good feeling knowing I own everything for around half of MSRP by buying used/slightly damaged/clearance/bargain hunting. Unfortunately, it's been one of those go broke by saving money things...lol.

Nice setup. What program is that you are running?

It's a program called PLEX. It's a fork of the XBMC project... I'll run that on occasion (works well on Apple TV) or Boxee. GREAT for watching media stored on your computer. Automatically pulls the theme song for tv programs and plays in the background while browsing + and basically gives you a plot summary/imdb rating of your movies and shows. Not gonna lie, I'm pretty impressed by it.

Oh yeah, it's also an AWESOME 10 foot interface for watching things like Hulu. The only reason I haven't cut my cable is because of ESPN and other occasional shows on things like Discovery.

Love the fronts, like the integrated computer and storage, don't really like the tower rears, at least for your room. You really should go with something smaller to maximize space right now. In the future you could reuse the other towers but I'm pretty positive you'd get better performance if you went with some dipole rears. Just a suggestion. Other than that great job and keep us updated.

Trust me, if I could find a set of Athena R1's for decent money, I'd be all over them. with the rear towers it feels a little....cramped. I may just move them out of the room all together if they'll fit in my closet since I haven't even hooked them up and I'm managing just fine with the front three lol.

It's one of those things you guys always say on here for advice: invest in a good 2.1/3.1 vs mediocre 5/7.1 MUCH better with solid mains than just ok surround setup.

Good job for the small space that you have to work with.

I live in an apt also and look forward to upgrading to a house someday and continuing to build on my HT. It really is a lot of fun.

Having a house is nice, and I can't wait to get in one. I actually just moved out of a townhouse where we had our entire basement setup with my old projector... man I miss having a 110+ inch screen.

Any pictures of your setup?
