Just based on this fourm, I have narrowed my television search to 2. The New Sony gwIII xbr950 or a 61 inch Samsung DLP. I want to buy before Christmas. What will the model number of the newest 61' Samsung DLP be? Is it the one already on their website? This purchase will need to last a very very long time. I want the best technology and newest model when I do buy.


Will the newest 61' samsung be the HLN617W?

That's the newest 61 and the one currently on the market

There is supposed to be a 619 soon - but don't know when. The major "improvement" seems to be a built in HD tuner. You may want to call 1-800 samsung to find additional info.

HLN617W is the latest current model.

An HLN619W (HLN617W+integrated ATSC tuner) was announced last winter but never delivered; rumor is that this model was cancelled.
