It is normal that the fan do not work after shutting down the projector? i run it in eco mode. I have also a panasonic pt ax2000e and the fan runs for 1 minute after shutting down the pana...
DLP needs to keep the fan on because they generate so much heat. Epson uses Instant Off technology.

If you go back a couple of pages me and Ptmelville unlocked the SECRET dip for bluethoot audio (at your own risk)
Thanks. I totally forgot that the 3D glasses use Bluetooth :p So I did some research and located which Bluetooth module Epson is using. It's the Panasonic N5HZZ0000111 (DBUB-P207) Bluetooth Module. More information can be found at the chip manufactures website located here;

https://www.broadcom.com/products/wireless-connectivity/bluetooth/bcm2070

Apparently it is fully compliant with Bluetooth 3.0 so audio is supported.

Where did you find the DIP switch(s) to turn this on?

I'm still using my 6500UB I bought for $3000 CDN many years ago when it released. My second bulb just died on me and I was about to purchase another one, but noticed how significant the cost of projectors have come down, that for a little bit over double the price of a replacement bulb I could get a new projector. I wasn't planning on upgrading my projector at all until I seen the prices of new projectors. Would it be worth it to just buy one of these sub $1000 projectors over a $300-$400 replacement bulb for my 6500UB? I need to start researching...

I'm wondering if this will work... I'm moving into a new house and want to have everything set up ahead of time. I'm looking to do a 96in or 100in screen in a 11.5x11x8.5 room. The projector will probably sit off the ceiling about 9.5-9.0ft from the screen. Will I be able to do this with this projector? I'm not sure if it will be far enough for that size of screen.

Wow! That is extremely helpful. Thank you so much!

Where would you suggest to look for screens? It seems like I would be in the 96in to 104in range. Depending on how far back I can have the screen near the wall.
STR-169100 Silver Ticket 100" You will not be disappointed. To the contrary, you will be surprised they give you an overwhelming amount of quality, at a give away price. The picture is outstanding.

Out of curiousity, how many hrs. has your 6500UB logged?

Everyone will likely have a diiferent opinion on bulb replacement vs. buying a new sub $1000 projector. There are several things to consider -- you are likely already cosidering all of the pros and cons as I type this reply.

The build quality of your older projetor is possibly much better than newer projectors. But, your 6500 has provided many years of service and its reliability moving forward is unknown. With a new 2040 (using this new model as an exmple) you are starting with a full 2 year replacement warranty. The lamps for newer projectors offer longer bulb life -- and the 2040 bulb costs just $79.00 to replace. I have an Epson 5010 and a BenQ 1070. These units are great - but the pic quality isn't that different from the 2040 . . . and due to the high cost of lamp replaceent, their cost of ownerahip is much higher than for the 2040.

I wouldn't invest in a higher end 1080p projector at this point, snce 4K units will eventually dominate at an affordable price point -- with lazer being the light source for long life reliable projection.

The low-cost 2040 has so many features and advantages that I would likely get a new budget unit. Yes, the blacks won't be quite as deep as for your 6500, but it's still a very Impessive little unit. If you buy one, make sure you can return it should you not like it.

Hope you make the right decision. Believe me, I have been in your deciaion making space a couple of times myself.

Is there anything that you would suggest as a pull down screen? I will have a 54in Panny plasma that will also be hanging in the same spot. So the screen would be in front of the TV.

I am looking for opinions on DIY wall paint for the 2040/2045. I have a pull down white screen and the colors a are great, but when I tried projecting directly on my dark wall the colors are stunning, especially the blacks. I attached some pictures for you to review. I know there's a separate thread for DIY paints, but I just wanted to see if anybody here can share their experience specifically for the 2040/2045.

Those look great!

You are right in saying that there are many threads on DIY paints but its not IMO completely Off topic to show some example here.

Are those all projected on your wall?
What settings are you using? Did you adjust your projector to compensate for the color shift of your wall? If not you could try using the AVS calibration disc or the THX app on IOS and compare to your original settings. (Those would be very basic adjustments and I'm not saying you'll get proper Calibration but it would be closer to real colors )

Could you take a picture with 50/50 screen wall and give out that wall color !

Thanks. Yes they are directly on the wall which is dark beige (if you insist, I can find out the Benjamin Moore name for this color). I modified the dynamic mode to get the right colors. I believe that by coincidence my wall has the correct darkness of the color but not the correct tint, a more neutral grey should be better. 50/50 photos might not be relevant since my adjustments are made for the wall right now, but I'll post some.

If you want to try the THX app It as a red screen for tint adjustment. It's pretty basic but works well enough!

+1. An A/B comparison would be great.

Yes please, tell us the paint.
Also, did you set to eco mode, or have you tested what it looks like in eco mode?

Wow I was going through your pics once again looking at the color shift and I noticed on the one from NBC NEWS that the fuel went up .09cts a Galon in Buffalo

I had a good laugh ! Here its 10cts a Liter (3.79L to a US gallon) from Monday to Friday each week. You have to watch out for price drops and quickly fill up before they put it back up again.

Common Issue?

Hey guys,

I'm liking the idea of my Epson 2040. Great image, great price, cheap bulbs, nice package...however...

I've returned 2 and am now on my 3rd and I'm having the same issue.

There seems to be a color bleed in at least one of the corners of each of the 3 units I've had.

The 1st had a blue bleed in the lower left (Front-Ceiling mount)
The 2nd had lower left green bleed (see attached picture)
and now the 3rd is starting to have a small green bleed and there is a noticeable green line on bottom and right of image

Am I the only experiencing this? I've tried 3 different input sources with 3-4 different brand HDMI cables and different resolutions to come to this conclusion. I really want this projector I just want to know if I'm super unlucky and need to keep returning/replacing or if I should just live with it or look for something else?

(BTW, Ignore the awful surface I'm projecting on...the theater is a work in progress)

I am not an electronic guru but this reminds me of the magnetic tint that the old TV's were getting when placed close to a speaker. Do you have any speakers or powerful amps close to the pj?
