I suppose to be accurate I should have called them "CAT6-HDMI" extenders. "Ethernet" implies a lot more than just the copper conductors.

I'd go with the powered version. It needs only one CAT6 cable, and we have had problems the passive extenders causing HDMI/HDCP problems.
I wondered about that handshake issue, I had considered using a Cat6 setup in the past for an extended run(PC>AV Equip) but ended up getting a long Redmere HDMI cable from Monoprice instead. The CAT6 setup sure looks simpler, and it can be easily cut to length instead of dealing with excess HDMI cable. So powered would be the "safest" way to go then?

That has been our experience with other brands. We have not tested the Monoprice versions, but in general their products are trustworthy.

I suspect that the difference is that the powered versions (including those powered by the HDMI cable itself) tend to also have active equalization to restore some of the inevitable degradation of fast signals over long lines.

BTW, the $190 kit may not be necessary -- see the choices at http://www.monoprice.com/Search/Index?keyword=hdmi+extender -- no need to settle for less than "four stars."

I'm using the HDbaseT extender from Monoprice with my x4000 with no issues. I had an in-wall run HDMI cable that went bad (50' HDMI run from my equipment closet to TV location). Thankfully I ran 5 cat6 cables when I ran the wiring during the build. I get a tad more screen blanking time when changing inputs or resolutions (like when going from the PS3 main menu at 1080p/60 to a game running at 720p). But it has worked like a charm.

Recently bought their HDbaseT 4x4 matrix for the rest of my whole home setup because of the good results I got from the basic extender linked by JD.

I have had the AVR-X3100W for about a month. Spotify was working fine until a few days ago. Now, no audio will play through the speakers, and when I go to Network Diagnostics I get an error. All other devices on the network are working fine. Has anyone had this happen before and are there any ideas of what I can try to remedy this?

Apparently the issue is caused by a recent Spotify version update and must be resolved by Spotify.

We are aware of an issue with Spotify Connect and are currently working with Spotify on a resolution. In the interim, please use Bluetooth or Airplay if you have an iOS device to stream Spotify to your receiver. Thank you for your patience as we work to resolve this issue.

Is it normal for Spotify to cause the Denon's network to fail? After running Spotify the Denon does not recognize any network activity.

Edit:
1. I verified that both hardwire and wi-fi are in fact working for other devices.
2. I was able to connect the Denon via wi-fi. I tried Spotify and it failed to play.
3. I reconnected the hardwire connection and was able to play online/internet music.
So, your answer if it being a Spotify error seems to make sense with what I'm seeing. Is there any additional information online about this? I'd like to know if/when this would be fixed.

Thanks for the response.

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to enable Audyssey Byp. L/R in my Denon X4000 but the option does not seem to be available. My setup is 2.1. Is Byp. L/R still supposed to work with such a setup? (I want to try limiting EQ to just my sub.)

Sorry, but no. You need at least a 4.0 setup in order to use that setting.

For more information, you would be best served contacting a Spotify rep.

Hey guys I just got new XPA-200 ext. amp. Do I need to activate 12V on Denon X4000? Also I'm using 7.2 set up so do I need to change it on AVR to 9.2 and select front as pre-amp? Just want to make sure all is set up correct.

1. Yes, you need to select what activity will activate it.
2. No need to change from your current Amp Assign unless planning to expand to 9CH in the main zone.

LFE Issue

Just recently upgraded to a X4000 from an Onkyo SR-809. I really like most of what the Denon does better than the Onkyo, but I am having issues with my music playback. I have an Arcam drDock with an iPod Classic connected via digital coax out to the Denon. I had this same setup with my Onkyo and it worked perfectly. However, with the Denon it appears that it is not passing the full signal for decoding. I am running 5.2 with 80hz crossovers. The decoding it set to auto which selects PCM for the signal. The input signal that is coming into the Denon is only showing FR/FL with all the speakers displaying active. The speakers all sounds fine, but the signal going to my subs is weak. There is signal there, but even if I crank up the output on them, it does not sound like it should. My other sources (TV - dolby digital and Blu-ray - same) both sound fine with very full bass. They both display that all speakers are active and that the input signal matches for each of the 5 satellites and both subs. With the drDock, it only seems to be receiving or decoding for 2.0. I have adjusted everything I can see in the setup menu but cannot get a full signal to display for this input. What am I missing?

Hey, so I have a Denon X1100W receiver from Accessories4Less, and I've been noticing lately that randomly the video and audio will cut out for maybe 2-3 seconds and then come back. This happens very rarely, I'd say maybe once every 2 weeks. I know for sure it's happened with both my PS4 and Xbox One, both using different HDMI inputs of course.

Other equipment is a Sony HW40ES, Klipsch RF-62ii(x2), RC-62ii, and RB-62ii(X2). All components hooked up to a Surge Protector. Everything is hooked up via HDMI. This sounds like a receiver problem right, as both the audio and video are cutting out, and it's happened on two different HDMI inputs? If it was speakers the video shouldn't cut out, and if it's the projector the audio shouldn't cut out.

Anyone have a similar issue? Anything I should try?

Also, this isn't really a problem or related, but I notice that on my PS4 which is on the Game input, when I adjust the volume on the receiver there is no on screen volume bar that shows, but on the Xbox One which is on the Media Player input, there is an on screen volume bar when I adjust the volume. Is this normal, or something I need to change? Just found it weird that it wasn't the same for both inputs.

EDIT - ****...Wrong thread, need to post in 2014 thread. My bad.

The AVR can only play what it receives which is apparently a 2CH signal. Are you sure the audio coming from the Arcam is multi channel?
