The Official Samsung HLT-5076S Owners Thread

So I just got from best buy, I live in Nor Cal. I bought the first hlt 5076s there, brought it home to my surprise of bowing on the entire image, but more dramatic on the edges. When I brought up the menu it curves upwards almost half of an inch from the center. So I had to return it of course, but had them open the second one for me at the store, same exact problem. I have a third coming on monday and I am expecting the same results. I went across the street to a circuit city to view their hlt 5076s and the problem was much worse, the menu had more of a wave feature than a bowing effect on the supposed straight line across the tv. I have not lost faith in the 5076s but am waiting for a better batch. I am going to call samsung as well to see if they know of this problem. Also the image jumps around with even the slightest touch of any part of the frame...especially the top. Much more of this and I will be considering the 5087.

I appreciate your enthusiasm, but it's best if two things are true before someone starts an "official" owner's thread. First it helps if they actually have the set and plan to keep it.

Second it's very important that they be interested enough to use their first post in the thread as a place to add updated information as it becomes available.

In that connection, it's also a good idea to immediately post filler posts as the second and third messages so there is room for expansion.

As a new poster, at AVS starting an owner's thread may be more work that you expected.

I'm having a similar problem with mine, the picture is tilted (right side is 1/4" lower than the left). I've had the tech out here once to adjust it but it didn't help at all. That was a few weeks ago. I'm fighting with Sears to have them come back at my convenience (Monday is my day off) and will hopefully have an answer tomorrow. I have looked at the same set in two different stores since noticing it on mine and it was present on both of them but to a lesser extent. The unit is FAR too sensitive to pretty much everything. If my daughter runs through the living room the picture shakes some. I'll report my findings after the tech attempts another repair.
