I want to know a few things:

Is ABL (Auto Brightness Limiter) as extreme as D series Samsung plasmas? On a D6900 it was very bad, white scenes were getting dimmed too much...

How bad is shimmering, fuzziness and flickering?

Are blacks much improved?

Any improvements on IR?

Power consumption?

ok that's all the question i could think of right now

I agree afaik e6500 has the same filters as e7000/e8000...only thing it doesn't have is the dual core CPU and that affects smart hub and apps only not PQ.

Actually the dual core processor does have an effect on PQ at least it does on the LED models. The micro dimming ultimate uses software algorithms to analyze the picture and control the dimming. It does it in real time and needs the more powerful processor to run the software properly to utilize the new ultimate dimming. I'm sure the dual core processor can be used for picture processing on the plasmas too to increase PQ.

Received my E6500 today. So far there is noticeable buzzing, becoming louder with higher contrast images. It's loud enough to hear with the TV sound on normal volume levels. I also tested out the 3D, and while it's very smooth there is some crosstalk on both Comcast 3D OnDemand and 3D Bluray. Playing around with the settings and letting it run for awhile to see if any of this diminishes before I decide if I want to send it back.

Don't know how accurate Amazon's product listings are, but they show the "Real Black Panel" as a feature on ALL of their 2012 plasma lineup - with only the E8000 also having a "Clear Image Panel."

Gee - seems like a Clear Image ought to be a requirement for ANY HDTV!

In fact - again, JUST looking at the Amazon chart - there does not appear to be a whole lot to distinguish between any of the top 4 2012 Samsung plasmas.

FWIW, saw a blurb on the E550 that stated: "Another feature is the Real Black Filter for "blacker" blacks, which was a standard on previous premium line TVs."

Disappointing to hear about BUZZING - that is something we've not had "problems" with.

At the same time, our latest panel (60" Pan) will Buzz on some of the Brighter Break-in Slides - but nothing that we've notice with normal program material.

All of them get the "Real Black Filter". Now the top ones get the "Real Black Pro"

I'm set to take delivery on a PN51E6500 on 3/27. I'm a casual user and a plasma newbie...what's the best way to calibrate this TV? Thanks!

No I don't. Is there a calibration DVD that you would suggest? I was hoping to find a calibration thread, but it may be too soon for this model.

the e6500 should be in the e7/8000 thread, it's got the same filtering.

What i have done is take the E550 out of this thread and created a seperate thread for that television,

with that bein said The 6500 series television is much better bein in a different thread then the 7000 - 8000 series because once that thread gets goin faster as more owners get chiming in, ( obviously more people in that thread will be talking bout the 7000 - 8000 over the 6500 ) most of the less talked bout scattered info on the 6500 series will lost in the thread and be more difficult to find easily and this single thread will make for 6500 owners to discuss this television without sifting through all the info on the 7000 - 8000 series soo have fun

In the Calibration forum I've seen the Disney WOW disk recommended for those that don't have a meter.

Of course a professional calibration is money well spent IMO
