I recently purchased this Camcorder. I already went through the set-up and everything and set my locations as Los Angeles, CA.

But when I turn on the GPS, it shows locations as New York??!!

can anyone help me?

Thank you

Alex

NY is the default... you have to give it a while to find the sats (mine took about 5 minutes the first time). Also make sure the GPS feature is turned on and that you try it outside (the GPS won't be picking up anything inside).

For some reason, upon first getting it, it also took a long while (over an hour) for mine to get out of NYC and correctly find itself in Texas. After that, it worked great, including correctly tagging all of the places on various trips, including showing all of the spots in multiple clips on a couple of boat trips.

It's unclear. On my new XR500, I had it open and running for twenty minutes and still no correct GPS. I played with the menus, ensured the GPS receiver was on, went outside and made sure I had no southerly obstruction, etc. I thought it was broken and was becoming resigned to return it as defective. Then, voila, it found Texas and has worked perfectly ever since with immediate location changes upon moving.

I don't know what to say other than give it some time.

I think Alix23 was asking is do you have to put it on recording mode at outside for 20-30 mins to get the GPS receiver to pin-point your exact location. Mine still shows NY.

I think he's saying power it on by opening the LCD, not necessarily putting it in record mode. If the power is on and GPS is enabled, it should be tracking that constantly, not just when the Record button has been hit.
