This was once the Pioneer BDP-72FD/73FD/160/460/LX57 2013 Blu-ray player thread--including everything from anticipation, press announcements, and user discussions. It turns out that the only Blu-ray player released by Pioneer in 2013 was the BDP-160. It's not even available in the US, unless B&H and J&R decide to sell it as a multi-region import. This could be due to Pioneer's May 13, 2013 New Medium Term Plan . Hopefully, if Pioneer does decide to release Blu-ray players in the coming years, they won't have any of the problems the 2011-2013 models had. We'll just have to wait and see. So it looks like I'll be either using my Yamaha BD-A1010 via analog with my 2006-model Yamaha HTR-5935 receiver so I get pure, high-quality SACD playback, or else go back to my Pioneer Elite VSX-32 2010 receiver's HDMI connections and use my BDP-23FD for jitterless audio from my Blu-rays, DVDs, and CDs, and my Pioneer Elite DV-58AV for SACD played back as multi-channel PCM at 88.2 KHz, or two-channel PCM at 176.4 KHz. Of course, the built-in speakers on my new Samsung UN40F5000 are good enough that I can wait and see what Pioneer decides to do before I lug receivers back and forth according to their plans.
