Maybe Chris Walker "Walkamo" can provide more insider info

The 150 got a bad report in the 2011 thread. It looks like I won't be getting these players either, if they'll be a repeat of last year. So would October or November be a good time to write to Chris Walker, as well as Pioneer of Japan, with the features I would like to see added in their 2013 A/V receiver AND Blu-ray player lineups?

Hi Realzven,

Unfortunately the DSD-PCM conversion is limited to 88.2KHz at 20-Bit. This is a limitation of the MTK chipset..

I am still awaiting an answer for the Gamma control....

thanks,

Chris Walker

Pioneer Electronics

We are talking about the low model ... I don't think that for most people that buy this model find that important... even in the 450 I don't think that matters a lot...

SACD is not a big format... I only have a few of them (from only one band) cause no other bands (that I like) release a SACD version of their cds...

I'd rather had a better player in terms of video settings and features than a better SACD, of course at this price range

The latest I heard was that Pioneer was developing the new Elite players completely in-house. For what it's worth... This is good news to me!

I don´t trust any rumours about in-house production when it comes to Pio BDPs...

Walkamo said exactly the same thing some 10 months ago about the BDP-440/52FD and BDP-LX55/53FD and what happened? A bunch of strange behaviors from the players, Pio´s inability to release some competent firmware upgrade, freezing, no goddamn track/chapter number on display, catastrophic remote controls/sensors...

a Pio EU employee assured me in April that FW update for BDP-440 will be coming out within the end of May, it´s end of June and there´s NOTHING...

yesterday I played some .FLACs via DLNA on my BDP-440, I had to re-connect it to the wall outlet twice as it completely froze on me...

Until I read some unbiased review of the new Pio BDPs, confirming quality and bugless performance, I´m out of it...and I suggest everyone to do the same...

From what I read on a Hong Kong based AV forum, LX56 will be once again made by TCL. (can't find the link now)

I'm definitely passing on the 2012 lineup after reading this! If I get a chance, I might just decide to move my Pioneer components up to my bedroom and bring down my Yamaha 2006-model HTR-5935SL receiver with multi-channel analog input and connect my Yamaha BD-A1010 player for jitterless, unprocessed audio all across the board.

According to this press release , the BDP-61FD/450 will be available from October onwards. I'm thinking that the longer they put off releasing it, the better chance the bugs will be worked out and requested features will be added. And don't forget that we still have one more chance for 2012 with the BDP-63FD/LX56.

A good news for the BDP450 the two HDMI send Video and Audio, the 53FD/LX55 only send Audio on HDMI 2 (on HDMI 1 : Video+Audio)

Wow, nice news then...

About the 450, too bad that doesn't have wifi built-in, most of their concurrent today have this feature... If I get the 450 I definitely have to buy another switch (another expense...)

Two questions, does the 450 will come in-built memory for the BD Live ?!? (does the 440 come with this?)

About the Qdeo video processing, any thoughts how will it compare in terms of performance and PQ with other BD models??!

And what about prices?!? Can we say that probably this will come with similar prices of the 440 (when was out of course)??

strange there´s still no track/chapter displayed...just like BDP-440 after 10 months since its release and FW update promised months ago:D

nevertheless, I´m guessing the BDP-450 could be a really good universal player, if Pioneer took their time and fixed some catastrophic bugs of the 2011 BDPs...like the pathetic remote controls/sensors, pretty frequent freezing at most conditions (DLNA searching/media playing, USB sticks plugging in/out...., open/close mechanism issues, inability to play some discs/media properly without initial reboot, etc...

If they stick to quality Marvell chip integration with proper adjustments and keep their words about high-grade audio parts, 32-bit/192 KHz DAC and PROPER remote operation at a reasonable price (up to 300 EUR), I´m in...

Yes, at least in Europe it will have the same MSRP of 299 Euros as the 440 last year.

Elite entry model will be 62FD, instead of 61FD. May want to change the thread title.
