I love time travel movies, but this one doesn't really interest me. I'll wait for more info I guess.

I didn't catch if he can control the traveling or not (looks like he just disappears without any control) so it strikes me they took the husband/wife relationship part of the TV show Journeyman and made a movie out of it.

It's based on the book of the same name.

I believe it was the opposite. Journeyman (which I really liked as a series) "borrowed" the concept. And yes, he doesn't have control over his time displacement.

Yeah, I saw that. didn't mean they took that idea from Journeyman. Just that if you (as an individual) took that element of Journeyman, it looks like that's what the movie is about.

And the book is quite good. If you like romantic movies, that is. The story focuses on the consequences of the time travel, not the "gee-whiz" sci-fi stuff. And nothing blows up. Could be sexy, though.

Not if the book is any indication. I do really recommend reading it, if reading is something you like. (I know an increasing number of people for whom reading is never recreational, bummer.)

And while I liked Journeyman and it has some similarities, the book is more intriguing.

The Time Traveler's Wife sounds interesting so I checked to see if our local regional library has the book and, if so, reserve it. Wow, that's one popular book; the library has 7 copies and I'm number 232 on the reserve list! What's most interesting is the book is portrayed more as a love story than a fantasy.

Here's a link to some short reviews of the book for those of us who still read.

My wife read the book and absolutely raved about it. She's been trying to get me to read it. Plan to, but there's a backlog...

Hope they do a good job with the movie adaptation. Trailer looked good. But trailers always look good, don't they?

Saw it this afternoon and....

it's definitely a chick-flick (not that there's anything wrong with that). And that makes it a good date movie, also. I've never read the book it's based on, but I can believe it is better. The book's always better.

Eric Bana is a good actor, but something was missing in TTW; can't quite put my finger on it though. There was a scene where he seemed to forget he was portraying an American and his aussie accent came through.

I thought it was only good (perhaps they should've shot for an R rating). But if you have a wife and daughters, they'll more than likely love this film. Definite rental when available.

3 out of 5 stars
