I've been searching around for a while and cannot find a match for my demands for a audio processor.


My req. is: (in addition to std. DD/DTS/PCM decoding)


HighEnd sound

capability of dig. input of DVD-A and SACD

Bass management with different setting for music and movies (includes speaker sizes, x-over freq.,)

Able to handle 2 subwoofers

PAL/European mains support (220v/50Hz)


So far i'm havent found any yet.

I'm not aware of any pre/pro (as opposed to receivers, e.g. Yamaha Z9, Sony 9000ES, Pioneer Elite models, etc.) shipping with a working FireWire/IEEE1394/iLink (all the same thing) input. Meridian can do DVD-A in the digital domain (with their players & pre/pro -- a proprietary link), and I believe Accuphase might have something for you for at least 2ch SACD (again, a proprietary link). There has been discussion of a forthcoming high-end Denon (see DenonJeff's thread), but that appears to have been delayed -- maybe a working prototype will appear at CES in January? Theta has pre-announced, but not shipped, a proprietary solution, but that, too, appears to be delayed.


Unfortunately, I am not aware of what you want existing as a shipping product today. I say unfortunately, because I want it, too.

Yepp, I have discovered that it migth be none existing models. If some model gave me a digital solution for SACD/DVD-A, the bass management could be so primitive that I don't want it anyway.


The Anthem product line looks to be a good solution if they announces a future upgrade, but has not european models.


So far my solution is to upgrade to a frontspeaker that does not need a subwoofer in music mode. That would be a speaker that plays high quality sound down to 25-30 Hz.

I'd add another feature to your wish list - user upgradeable firmware coupled with a timely firmware release schedule.
