The US Festival

As far as any of you know, is there a snowballs chance in hell that the US Festivals

(1982-1983) will ever see the light of day on DVD? I know that there are bootleg copies floating around of the HBO broadcast of the 1983 festival. But I keep hoping (seemingly against hope) that the concerts will officially be released. I do know that Apple Co-Founder Steve Wozniak was the guy that put these great shows on so the release rights may rest with him. Oh well, the 25th anniversary of these concerts approacheth, maybe we'll see them released then.

Triumph has released their performance on DVD already, but I don't think anyone else has.

I have a crappy boot of Van Halen's show on VHS. Out of all the bands on Metal Day, that is the one I want most on DVD. Sadly, I don't think Eddie will ever release any live Dave shows.
As I recall, the US festival was shown on Showtime. My parents subscribed. I went to the video store (mom and pop joint :) ) and rented a VHS recorder and bought some blank tapes. I recorded days 1-3. I would love to have this set on DVD!!!

Yes, I was aware of Triumph's segment on DVD. I rented it once. It wouldn't surprise me that Eddie Van Halen won't release any live video from the David Lee Roth era. As I recall Van Halen and David Bowie went to war over who would take home the lion's share of the money. They settled in court for each getting 50% and were both listed in the Guiness book of world records as the highest paid live acts at that time. I also believe this doomed any future US Festivals from being organized.

Some friends of mine had a massive party in their little apartment to watch what is known as "Metal Sunday". That line up totally Kicked A$$. It is the only segment I've seen. And being the 80's junkie that I am, I would love to seen the rest.

Me and my 21 year old friends took a road trip to the mother of all festivals and the thing I remember most is how drunk David Lee Roth was. Down he went 3 times.

Another thing I remember is the $30.00 US festival XL shirt I bought turned into a small shirt after one wash :(
There's no telling what kind of a nightmare licensing all those performances would be. It would be an a$$load of money, with no incentive to do it for charity as in the case of Live Aid. so I don't know that it would ever happen.
