Hi,


I know external door with weather stripping but are you using metal or wood or fiberglass???


At HD they can get a external wood door with a stc rating of 31 that is "less" then the door they have in stock. I forgot what it is filled with. They also have metal door filled with styrofoam.


Well?????


When I went to the movies on Friday...they were using an external metal door with weather stripping not the typical theater doors.

An STC of 31 is quite good for an ordinary exterior wood door. Metal acoustical doors can achieve significantly higher isolation (as high as about STC 50), but these are very expensive and require special installation.

Yea, I thought STC of 31 was good for a typical wood door. With a good ...it comes weather stripped and prehung. This is a speacial order but cheaper then what they have in stock...so go figure.


I have checked out the metal "movie" doors and yes for $2,000 they are expensive. This door was like $150.00. I was going to spend $384 on a prehung door from there
