I'm not sure this is the correct Forum but was not sure where else to start.

I have taken some photos of my re-constructed/new digital theater with a new digital camera (first use !!!) and tried to download them to the Photo Gallery. The problem is they exceed the 250K max image size.

Question: Is there a way to "down convert" these photos to a lower resolution via some magic software or (I hope not) do I need to re-take the photos?

you'll need to use a photo or other editing software to reduce the picture size and file size.

Photoshop is good. The save for web option converts from bitmap to jpg and throws out a lot of info not needed. Makes file sizes about 1/10 the size with really no loss in quality

Hi audioguy-

If you don't want to drop $600 on Photoshop, you can use Irfanview for free. It can read almost any type of media and does high quality downconversions very easily.

They just released a new version (3.70).

ACDSee Classic is also free and can be downloaded off of several website archives. It allows you to convert between file formats, and when converting to JPEG you can select the compression magnitude.
