I'm looking for a theater seat. I live in an area that doesn't offer many choices. While I don't have a "bad back," my back starts hurting on the decade old Berklines I have. Thus far, my search has steered me towards the Palliser Atomic model... http://www.theaterseatstore.com/palliser-41945-atomic-theater-seat?sc=9&category=149 I'm just wondering if there is something better out there that suits my criteria (roughly in this order):

1. A seat that is firm, yet comfortable, and will STAY firm over time... my Berkline foam has lost its resiliency, contributing to back soreness when sitting in them for a while.

2. I want leather or leather match... not bonded

3. I am looking for a relatively smaller footprint.. My Living/HT Room is 15' wide and I would like to have a 4 seat combination loveseat 0|00|0

4. I'm wilingl to pay for more than a Palliser Atomic, but not more than twice as much.

I would appreciate any thoughts or recommendations you may have. Thanks!

Based on the criteria you have listed, take a look at the following models of chairs, all with a smaller footprint:

* Fortress Californian- made in USA, firm, foam-filled back, 10 year warranty

* Palliser Cyclone- features a foam-filled back vs fiber-filled that will hold up better over time

* Palliser Hi-Fi- features a foam-filled back vs fiber-filled that will hold up better over time

* RowOne Skyline

* Albany Metro

* A couple of Roman's chairs (browse the accessories threads for info)

I highly recommend looking for chairs with a foam-filled (vs. fiber-filled) back if you are looking for firmness and longevity.

With 15' wide room, assuming that you need at least 2' wide isles on each side of the row of seating, you have 11' or 132" to work with. There are a lot of different chairs you can put there. Search the forum, and you would find tons of info...
