That thread moves so fast.... Geeze.

Anyone using TT2.0 on a CRT care to comment v. other options? I am using ZP with AC3filter, PowerDVD 4, reclock and FFDshow with Lancoz resize. With this arrangement, you have to continually scour for the updates for ZP, FFDshow, AC3filter, reclock, drivers etc and worry what might be broken. TT looks like a pretty good deal actually.

I have a NV5700 Ultra. Will this take advantage of all that the latest codecs offer?

Anyone compared to MyHD DVD playback? Cliff Watson seems to have made the switch to TT.

It just sounds like a VERY good alternative that should greatly simplify getting video files to the projector.

I downloaded TT2 last night with the Advanced Audio Pack. I have the latest version of ffdShow. This was the first version of TT that I have not had a single problem with after installation. I ran the install utility, popped in a DVD and it was flawless. I am still setting up the PJ, but the picture looked great. More to follow as I experiment.

I also downloaded TT2 with AAP and the brief bit I got to play with it using FFDShow looked amazing on my Samsung HLP4663. I had to get back to painting the theater so that I can get my ampro going and that will be the real test. Even using the built in NVidia VPP was impressive.

I thought FFDshow was supposed to be unnecessary with the postprocessor in the new nvidea decoder...

Unnecessary is relative. The nvidia decoder does provide for a very good picture however FFDShow simply improves upon the picture as before due to ability to further tweak the options.

Can TT2 use other files than DVD?

Thanks,

It will also play .ts files. Some have mentioned it as a playback mechanism to timeshift MyHD files.

Guys!

What does this v2.0 do for me versus TT of two years ago, which is working pretty good for all that time.

Better decoders Tim (and a slick new windowable UI, and many more audio-decoding options). If TT1.5 is working well for you you may want to stick with it for now though - TT2.0 has a few teething problems right now.

You don't... The whole point of TheaterTek is something to replace a DVD player in the way it works and hide the fact that you're using a computer to play dvd's.

A regular set-top box dvd player doesn't have a "window mode", so neither does TheaterTek.

I found out last night that you can get it in window mode. I think I double clicked on the screen and the minimzation bar came up in the top right. It took me a liitle time to figure out how to remove it........ double click again dummy.....

Yes TT2.0 can be in a windows mode. Check the options to open TT in that manner. For avi's, double click the file or right click->open from within TT.

I've been playing with TT2.0 the past week and have to say it's a definite improvement over 1.5 in terms of PQ. I recently participated in a meet where we compared 2.0 to 1.5 on Infocus 4805s (ATI video cards) and the 2.0 version had better low level detail. Having the WM9 decoding integrated is a big plus as well (although TT2.0 resource usage isn't as good as the bare-bones Zoomplayer on 1080p material). Being able to play avi/mpeg and mp3 files is also very nice (great for creating a multi-media theater intro loop for your HT).

I understand that TT-2.0 does NOT run in Full screen only.

The NVidia post processor and ffdshow are two completely different animals.

NVPP only does de-interlacing and inverse telecine processing.

FFDShow does a whole bunch of other types of video processing.

I have a question. Why does TT 2.0 only let you adjust the overlay while it is playing? I misplaced my copy of Avia, so i tried to look at the THX optimizer on Star Wars to check contrast and brightness, but the overlay controls won't work with the test patterns. You can't adjust TT when it is paused, but only when playing. There are some favorite scenes I adjust to, but it is hard to do that when TT is playing. Anyone else have this problems?
