Anyone know of the best choices in terms of theatre recliners for a small room? Which ones have the smallest footprint?

You can check our Fusion Collection Theater Seating.

Our Jive-1013 has narrowest footprint.

How much space do you need to get 4 in a row? Where can I find the specs for them? What’s length (inches) of 4 in a row straight?

even less if you use the convertible armrests. I saved this picture from the net showing the Jives with center loveseat and the convertible armrest I think it is 109 inches and change, You could go even less with two loveseats.

You might want to check out the Octane Chargers. I have a row of four and the total width is 117”.

How do you like the headrest on those? Does it provide enough support so that your head isn’t too laid back?

It’s pretty good as long as I don’t recline fully. However, they also sell an add on head rest pillow that is really good and flexible. I bought one for me and took out about 2/3 of the stuffing and it’s just right for me.

Thanks. I like the Jive choice and I spoke with Roman yesterday about them. As you have said in the past, I’ll be trying to make lemonade out of a lemon of a room soon with a new house we just purchased. It should be better than what I have now though which is a living room setup with a 65” tv and really high ceilings so getting great bass was a challenge. The new 12x12 room has a 9’ flat ceiling for Atmos speakers that have been sitting in a box for over a year now so I’m jacked about the aspect of finally using them. I’m looking to do a projector setup with the new room. I’m leaning towards a fixed 16:9 110” ALR screen (Grey Silver Ticket or Elite CineGrey 3D) and either an epson 6050 or JVC rs540. Im wanting low input lag for gaming and the ability to use it during the day to watch football or movies for that matter. The room will be somewhat light controlled. I’m using a credenza and my paradigm cc-690 will be sitting on it. 40” from the floor is where the bottom of the screen will be.

Any thoughts on those choices so far?

Also, what are some sources for room treatment that you would recommend? I know of Nyal and acoustic frontiers. I need room treatment on a budget though bc we are doing a good bit of remodeling in the rest of the house.

JVC usually wins heads up comparissons of image quality, Don't pay anywhere near retail Contact Mike Garret of AV science sales for a quote.

ATS, GIK acoustics and Acousticmac sell low priced panels and DIY materials.

There’s a closet on one side wall and a double window on the other side wall. The closet just out into the room making the width of the room slightly less than the length. I was thinking of removing the closet to open up the room more but would it be better to leave the closet for acoustic reasons? Would the closet help to break up some of the standing waves by keeping the closet doors open?

can you do an overhead sketch of the floor plan showing the closet? I'm having a hard time visualizing exactly where it falls, Generally bigger rooms are better for audio quality. Also, a closet with an open door is opportunity for unwanted resonances that would pollute the sound in the theater space unless it was filled/lined with sound absorbing material. I'm guessing that you would be better off without it.

See attached pics. The walls and ceiling will get painted. We haven’t taken possession of the house yet.

Also, will a projector setup work fine with a room like that? Put the projector about 1 foot inside the back wall.

So, I see. That does take up a big piece of real estate in the room. Things that go into the decision,

do you need that extra room to fit your seating? What is the room length with and without the closet?
what surround sound format were you planning and will it help to have the rear wall for speaker placement?
What make and model projector and size screen, do you have enough throw length for the size picture you want?
Where were you thinking of putting your equipment?
How long are you planning on staying in this house and will you need to put a closet back for resale?

Just a word of warning, the closet doors don't look centered on that wall but maybe they are centered on the closet itself. Meaning there may be something on the right side. Maybe a chase with plumbing or duct work. Could be a problem to remove the closet. Another issue is if you remove the closet you will have to patch/replace the carpet.

Not sure how long we’ll stay in the new house. We have younger kids so I suspect we’ll stay 5-10 yrs.

Room dimensions are 11’ wide with the closet. 12’ length. 9’ ceilings. Removing the closet looks to add 2-3 feet. It would definitely help when you enter the room with 4 recliners in the room so that you could walk to the right of the recliners and easily enter the room.

Will be doing a 5.1.4 setup with a credenza (all equipment inside it as shown in a older pic before I moved the tv a little higher) and center channel on top of it like shown. Rear wall is plenty of space for the rears I have. Will add another identical sub if needed. Currently have a HSU vtf3-mk5.

Thinking either a Epson 6050 or JVC rs540 and a fixed 110” 16:9 ALR screen.

Not sure about whether we would need to put the closet back. BTW, there’s no plumbing or anything in that closet. We are putting new carpet in the room anyway. Demo won’t impact carpet. Whole room is getting painted too regardless. Would remove the carpet and the closet before painting and new carpet.

with a 12 ft room your throw distance lens to screen will be around 10 ft. Plugging that into the throw calculator for the JVC shows the largest 16:9 screen supported of around 100 inches. If that is too small removing the closet may be necessary. You might be able to shine the projector out the existing doorway or create a porthole in the closet wall to gain the added distance.

Sorry late to party was out of town, check out our chairs HT Design Warwick, Somerset, Belmont (power headrest) and sheffield (power headrest).

Warwick and Belmont smallest of the 4 styles but all can fit in smaller rooms.
