i have non-guaranteed theme channels for "The E! True Hollywood Story" (ch63) and for "Behind the Music" (ch69). sometimes they both happen to air at the same time. each episode of "The E! True Hollywood Story" repeats at least 3 different times over a couple of days, but it seems that RTV is not recording all of these (same) episodes! http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif and the Replay Guide shows each show's title, e.g.: "Billionaire Boys Club", etc!

first, can someone tell me if what i have seen is true? if so, what are the full criteria used to determine whether to record or not? "Title" and "Description"? or "Actors" and "Director" as well? or is there some hidden info that RTV "sees" that i don't that helps it "know" not to record the same show twice?

now, the big question: if RTV already recorded the episode of "The E! True Hollywood Story" that airs at the same time as a new "Behind the Music", assuming no other conflicts http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif will the "Behind the Music" record?

note also that i have a "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (ch67) non-guaranteed theme, and none of those seem to have been multiple recordings of the same show either!

and to make things worse, on mondays, all 3 of these shows are on at 9:00PM EST/EDT!

if i could add padding to themes, i could add 2 minutes to the start of one, 1 minute to another, and nothing to the third. then, when they were on at the same time, the -2 would get priority.

ReplayMike-

is this a cool new feature? if so, could you describe the logic it uses?

thanks.

This is how it SHOULD work:

When two shows come on, the older theme should record first.

So whichever theme ("E!..." or "Behind the music") you first created will have priority. Doesn't matter whether the older theme repeats later in the week. If there is a description on the program it should only record once -- unless you delete it from the channel prior to a re-broadcast -- then it records again. If there is no program description, it will record over and over. If the program that was bumped re-broadcasts at a time with no other conflicts, you should get a recording of it. Note that once in awhile I will have shows inexplicably skip recordings when set up this way.

The safest way to record these types of shows (assuming they have regular broadcast times) is to set up show-based recordings.

"As Time Goes By" is on three times a week (Sat, Sun, and Thurs); On Saturdays it conflicts with "The Iron Chef" at 9:00 PM -- which rebroadcasts at 12:00AM Sunday. Rather than worry about conflicts and duplicate recordings -- I would sometimes have to delete "As Time Goes By" THREE times in a week, I set up these two shows as show-based single-time recordings. No conflicts, no duplicates.

BTW -- haven't got 3.0 yet
