Im pretty impressed with VLC's ability to play just about any format you throw at it; even non-standard encodings that dont play on any other player or DS filters. Plus, it supports using motion compensation/hardware acceleration very well on my setu; yes, I think it even beats the MCP as an all in one player (at least for video playback) from my experience.


Since VLC is open-source, I'm curious if anyone has news or information if there's work being done to make it's decoders directshow compatible.


I did some searches on google, but didnt see anything that stood out.
