Hello,

I am thinking of trying to build my own first speakers, I was thinking towers.

I am really interested in making some really high quality speakers using high end components.

Starting from the crossovers and tweeters/woofers. What has everyone had success with?

Also where is a good place to find curved plywood,MDF at?

WHere is a good place to find high end veneers if MDF chosen?

Would you build a crossover or buy a pre-fab one?

Thanks,

What is your budget?

High quality, for a beginner, means means starting with a kit or other proven plan. Some kits come with assembled crossovers so that can save you some assembly effort (though the assembly is trivial compared to the crossover design effort), Some kits can include the baffle, flat-pack, or entire assembled cabinet.

Curved plywood or MDF is something you probably have to do yourself...a google search should turn up someone selling it if it exists. I've seen curved bookshelf sized cabinets at Parts Express but not anything I would call a tower.
