Looking for thoughts on those that switched from a Sony 95 to another projector (either Sony 50 or 55 - yes I know in theory that is backwards but possibly you did for a good reason) or to a JVC (4810/4910 or similar model). I am leaning toward the B stock 95 over a 50 or 55 but just can't help but wonder if RC will make more of an impact along with the new motion flow software on the 50 or 55 or if the JVC (primarily the 4910 with the new DI and what would be a two year newer model) would be so much better than the 95 (not likely it is going to be that much of a better projector though). As far as price, I am patient as I will just wait until the fall when 4910 b stocks are available.

As far as 3d is concerned, it will really be a rare novelty of a couple times a year if that so not a concern. As far as my room, the walls and carpet are dark, the ceiling is not as dark as the walls. It is light controlled that I can pull blackout shades. Mostly we watch in evening. When watching regular TV or sports, we do keep lights on but they are only can lights above the seating area or lights we have behind an archway into the bar/pool table area so that is behind the seating. When watching movies, we keep lights off. To let you know as far as lighting, we watched the Superbowl with 10 others with lights on about halfway power above seating area and some directional light in the room behind and had no trouble with picture (my projector is a Sanyo Z5 with 1800 hours on bulb). Therefore, I don't think any of these are going to be to dim for my liking (infact I worry the 50 or 55 will be two bright).

I am strongly leaning the 95 because of all the sports we watch and the better motion but not sure it is really that much better than the 4810/4910 with the motion flow that it will make that much of a difference. Just wondering others thoughts who may have had the 95 and possibly regret getting something else that in the end is not all that much different.

I have never viewed the 95 model. I had the Sony HW30 with the Darblet and I thought this had an outstanding picture. That was until I upgraded to the HW55. The contrast and RC on the 55 are stunning to say the least. I have zero complaints on the motion for sports, video games, TV, and movies on the HW55. I also sold my Darblet because I think the 55 is better than the 30 with the Darblet. Sony HW55 is an amazing projector through my eyes.

Not seen the VW95 but the RC on the HW50 is striking at first. However as you use the projector more you'll likely start to notice that on some material the picture can look over processed with RC on and I think you'll find the same thoughts from many others. When I used RC the majority of the time I used it on the Min setting.

If your main concern is sports, you might prefer a brighter pic of which at least ProjectorCentral's calculator says the pic on the VW95 may not be nearly as bright as the 50/55 or the JVCs. This was one of the main reasons I chose the HW50 over a B-stock 95 when I bought mine.
