Thoughts on Equalizers (for SBv3)?

254 Views 3 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  ggunnell
I just received my Squeezebox v3, and while the sound is great coming through headphones, I tend to like more bass in certain types of music than the flat response of the Squeezebox provides. This brought me to the idea of using an equalizer from the squeezebox to my headphones.

I can't find much information on equalizers in this section of the forums. I'm wondering what people think of them, and if there are any suggestions for somewhat inexpensive ones. I was looking at the Audiosource EQ200 @ $120 for example.

Another option for me would be to run the squeezebox through my RX-V659 (when it gets here) and use the bass / treble adjustments available on the receiver. However, my experience with receivers' bass / treble adjustments has been poor, and I generally don't like the sound it provides. I'm not sure if the RX-V659 has a better "equalizer" than I'm used to though.

Check out the EQ's at Full Compass, hopefully sorted low price to high:

The Behringer FBQ800 looks like what you are looking for.

Edit: Musician's Friend customers give the 800 good reviews:

Wow, Full Compass is located about 6.65 miles from me. Fancy that. If they are a walk-in type store, this could be trouble for my wallet. :(

Thanks for the reply. That Behringer looks like exactly what I'm looking for and isn't pricey at all.
