Hello

New to this forum and setting up A/V equip and only have a basic understanding of it all, if that. I use my MacBook pro to watch DVD's. It is hooked up to my Sony receiver and I have a HDTV and surround sound system. There is a buzz/humm/noise coming out of the speakers that sit on the fireplace mantle that also sit underneath the tv. The noise is only when I watch movies on the Mac. Not when I had cable or listen to the radio or ipod. Is there a thread about this? Can someone give me some advice? I am on my own on this one and not sure how to fix it. Thanks.

Also, the noise changes with the picture on the screen. When the picture is brighter or has more white in it, the noise is louder. When it is darker less noise.

Thanks.

I can hear a bit of noise when using my headphones to listen to movies/music on my MBP. I can only hear it when there is nothing playing (eg between scenes or songs). I wonder if you have a similar issue that is getting amplified through your receiver?
