I thought that paidgeek stated that Sony's replication facilities will not do any porn. That doesn't mean someone else won't replicate porn on BD. There are other replicators.

To be fair, he said that Sony has this policy, and other might have this same policy. However, he's not saying that every BD replicator definitely has this policy.


Either way though, it is limiting porn production on Blu-ray. Vivid does claim it will release on Blu-ray, but it's interesting that they now say they'll release on HD DVD at the same time too. I wonder if it has anything to do replication or if it's just because of the market. Lots of HD DVD players out there, and most of their competition seems to be going to the HD DVD side so they'll need to be on HD DVD to compete with them head-on.

I know you guys worked this out, but just wanted to mention that I think the porn industry is big enough that somebody will step up to do replication for BD. I don't know that much about the business, but it just seems like the porn industry might be different than what we have with the 7 or so major studios for non-porn. It seems like porn companies would care less about who wins the format war and more about just selling titles. So, unless one side pays them off, I think we'll see most of these publishing on both, unless one format really dominates the regular market. For instance, I figure these porn studios will want to sell some of their product to PS3 owners and some of it to XBOX360 add-on owners, without missing out on either one. It just doesn't seem like it is going to be that difficult to master the material so it can go on either one.
