Greetings:

Our HT is nearing completion, and I need to find someone that can perform THX calibration and setup. I am located in suburban Philadelphia.

My primary components consist of:

Lexicon DC-1 (v 4.0 With DD / DTS / THX / EX)

Marantz MM-9000 5 Channel THX Amp (for L/C/R and L/R Side Surrounds)

2 Marantz MA-500 Monoblock THX Amps (for L/R Rear Surrounds)

Atlantic Technology System 350 THX (Dual Sub configuration with L/R Rear Surrounds as well)

Audio Control Bijou THX Eq (7 Channel)

I'm looking for someone who is accomplished at the task with the appropriate tools (RTA, SPL, etc).

Please help.

Get an SPL meter, set to slow, C weight and go around each speaker. Set the db to 75 for each one and that's THX spec for the sound output.

Not hard to do at all. Assuming everything else is taken care of like speaker placement, etc.

Greetings:

Unless something has changed in the last several years, I don't believe that is the case. Lucasfilm puts out a document called "Home THX Audio System Room Equalization Manual". It clearly states the use of a RTA is required along with a THX EQ to achieve optimal settings.

I have the audio equipment, but I don't have the RTA, SPL nor the expertise necessary to do it RIGHT. And, I'm not about to spend a few thousand dollars on an RTA. I guess I could take my spare PC down to the theater, put a sound card in it, get some RTA software which I believe to be available, and try to do it myself, but I would prefer it be done with the RIGHT professional equipment by someone who has the demonstrable expertise / certification to do so.

Daryl, since you have the Audio Control Bijou, by all means get your room real time analyzed so you can set the Bijou properly. And then please do us a favor and report back here in both the Audio and Tweak forums what you did and how you like the results. Can Dennis Erskine recommend anyone up in your neck of the woods to real time analyze your room?
