THX Optimizer in T2 ultimate ed better then Avia?

I tossed my old DVD calibraition disc from BB a while back but I remembered that the Terminator 2: Judgement Day ultimate edition DVD has the THX Optimizer in it an add on feature so I ran it on my samsung 46" Tantus DLP set. Anyone else calibrate their set with a THX program??

It really helped with a the PQ but I did have to increase the brightness level above what the initial calibration was set to by 10 points. There is still a slight bit of blue in some of the whites and I could adjust the frame down a bit so I'll do that on another day but I found this to be usefull and well it was free so that's even better then $400 for Avia Pro or $50 for Avia.

However is the Avia worth the extra money for set up purpose and audio tuning with out a RTA??

I would still use Avia, or DVE, since THX optimizers are highly content sensitive. Not every one is the same, they are good for getting optimal settings for that DVD, but only a ballpark range for everyday use.

Heck I actually forgot this fact untill yesterday, when I was reminded.

It isnt like you cant find DVE for less than $20, I'm sure Avia is less than $40.

Just my two cents.
