How about the well-rated SVS SB12-NSD for $899 ?

(Also available here , according to the "International Sales" page on the SVSound.com website.)

I recently upgraded from dual BIC America F12 subwoofers to dual SVS PB12-NSD subs. If your looking for really tight, defined bass then look no further than the SVS PB12-NSD subwoofer.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

That's a small space so you have that benefit,

HSU vtf3-mk4

SVS SB12 or PB12

Epik Legend or Epik Empire

Or even the ever popular budget Klipsch rw-12d for 300 at newegg. A pair of them would be quite sufficient for a 12' by 12' room.

It's very rare around here that your budget exceeds your needs.

I'd be tempted for a pair of Epik Legends in your use case.

Dual subs are desirable even in a small room.

Edit: I just realized you were possibly an Aussie. Most of those brands down there I've never heard of, when i clicked a store link you provided. Hopefully somebody can provide more relevant feedback because shipping may be a budget buster for a US made sub. I owned a pair of Jamo D7subs that I liked for the money at the closeout price of $500 per sub, but they weren't worth anywhere near the $2000 MSRP. A single HSU VTF-15H was significantly better sub, but two of the Jamo D7Subs were fairly comparable to a single $1000 HSU VTF-15H. Considering normal prices that is $4,000 of Jamo compared to $1000 of HSU.

That's a fact. It's usually: I have a 6000 cubic ft room and $300, which sub is best for me?

hah, no doubt - I was thinking that same thing. It's the all too typical thread that goes like this.

'I have a 25x40 foot room open to my kitchen and dining room with a 25 foot vaulted ceiling. What's the best sub I can get for $200-$300? I'm thinking about purchasing the Polk PSW110, but I might be able to pay an extra $50 for something else if the extra money spent is worth it?'

For tighter bass, go with the sealed subs listed so far, either the SVS SB12-NSD or Epik Legend.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Looking at both the sb12 and epik legend, look nice and would fit exactly with what I'm looking for. Now it's just a case of seeing if I can get them in Australia.

It's a bit of an issue I've found over here. There are so many good options but not that many shops that stock them.

The Epik you might not be able to. But check the links eljaycanuck gave you. There is a vendor for SVS in Australia.

Ok so really looking into the sb12. Everything I've seen about it looks amazing. They have stock in aus so that's good.

I've also found another contender not listed by anyone. The velodyne eq max-12. Any thoughts on this sub? Same price and from what I can tell pretty good quality. Maybe not as tight as the sb12 though.

You should look at the PB12-NSD.

It will go deeper.

The OP's first post says, "it's for a 12x12" room mainly for gaming. In not so much concerned about loud, window shaking bass. I'm looking for really tight, defined bass."

Games aren't doing much ULF content, and the SB12 will give him tighter bass.

You would be hard pressed to find a sub tighter than an X-Ref 12. The X-Ref 12 means tight. Be that as it may, I must ask, why do you require super tight bass for gaming?

I should have elaborated further in my original post. It will also be used for music. I've only ever used sloppy subwoofers and wanted something much more refined. Im really looking forward to punchy bass.

You forgot the stated goal of "room shaking bass".....

+1 for Rythmik, small room so go with an F12 set to 14hz/Hi damping and let it smack you upside the head.

Another user told me about rythmik and their F12. Looks like a great sub but I live in Australia and they currently have no rythmik dealers here. I could order one from the US but it would end up costing $1277 blowing my budget. That's without package insurance either.

Compared to the svs sb12, I don't think the extra $500+ and all the extra hassle would be worth it.

Thanks for the suggestion anyway.
