I've had it about a year and I use it daily for gaming and movies. I'm about to enclose the area to convert it to a dedicated HT. The room will be about 17'x10'5" and the equipment will be on the just outside in a bar that will be converted into a cabinet(not much of a drinker).

I am looking for an upgrade under $2k, I know there is plenty out there but just looking suggestions so I can start my search.

I am looking for something 1080p this time around, i did my research here for my first PJ and have been very happy.

This is what I have planned. The only walls that will be put up are the two enclosing the theater area. With the 2 cabinets removed and the current placement of the PJ, the distance between my pj and screen will increase to 17'. If I use the HD65 my screen sive would have to increase to 136", which I could do..

Any advise would help.

Are you wanting to stay with DLP? If so then BenQ W5000. How many hours at a time do you use your projector and how long do you think you will be keeping it? I ask because of the organic panel issue with lower end LCD projectors.

I havent had one issue with DLP, but then again never seen a LCD PJ display to compare. I might end up staying with the DLP. I thought I was only going to use my PJ for movies and night time use only, but that didnt happen. It only has 557 hours on the bulb. BenQ5000?, thanks I will look into that one.....

I might end up moving the projector a foot or too to keep the screen size about the same.

You should look into the Infocus X10 as well. I think it would give you a picture between 105 and 126" at 17'.

It's similar 1080P DLP but IMHO slightly better than the W5000. There's a review on projectorreviews dot com that compares the two.

What about sanyo's z3000? Or the Epson 6100?

I do alot of gaming on my PS3 and 360. I love my hd65 and I am sure these are a step up but would certainly hate to take a step in the wrong direction.

i recently bought the hd65 and returned it for the 6100. the hd65 wasnt very versitile in positioning it unlike the 6100 which is VERY versatile. the hd65 gave me headache too after about an hour and i saw rainbows real bad. i love the 6100 though! aside from a slight convergence issue in the lower right side i reall have no complaints, especially at the great price i got it for.
