Time to change my Center Paradigm Monitor CC- 350, what best fit

Hello everyone,

I'm still very happy with my home cinema (only use for movie, not really for music).

I'm full paradigm monitor for now but with different version. I like to upgrade a little my center since it is IMO the one that make a huge difference.
My question is, should I consider CENTER change to Paradigm Monitor CC-370 ? or go with Paradigm Reference or studio line ?
Is the sound so different with Reference or studio for the center ?

My current setup is
  • Front : Paradigm Monitor 7 v2
  • Center : Paradigm Monitor CC-350
  • Rear ADP 190
  • No SUB (I try once and it is a family breaker :) )
  • NAD t765
  • Room (seat at 13 feet, room 15 x 21)

So, in summary i like to change my center only, what is the best option ?

Or, maybe, just maybe...maybe sell all my current setup and upgrade all speaker once ? Suggestions !

If all you need (or feel you need) is a better-sounding CC speaker, I'd replace just that and not your entire set-up. If gently-used interests you, I'd check canuckaudiomart.com (or your local Kijiji) for something like a:
  • Studio CC v2;
  • Studio CC-470 v3; or
  • Studio CC-590 v4 or v5.

In Canada, the best bang for the buck option after the Paradigm SE series (whose center is below the level of your current center) is actually Emotiva speakers, shipped from the US. Several of your compatriots have reported that having Emotiva ship via USPS instead of Fedex or UPS actually allows them to not pay Canadian customs, so it's basically just a nominal $10 shipping fee and US prices you'd be paying.

Emotiva makes two very good 3-way centers, the C1+ and C2+ ... if you can make the space for the C2+ that is what I'd do and if your usage is focused on movies/TV that would really be the only upgrade necessary, as your other 4 speakers are fine.

In case you are under the (mistaken) impression that "brand matching equals timbre matching," please read:

Emotiva's C2+, easily. Even after the exchange rate, it's a ridiculously good price - if you do decide on that, be extra sure to e-mail them afterwards to have them ship via USPS instead of UPS/DHL as that would save you from paying any brokerage fees (USPS and Canada Post have a deal with each other where they cover that). Speakers aren't subject to any Duty, so all you'd have to do is pay the Taxes (which all depends on what Province you're in). When I bought my BasX A3 amp from them back in May, they sent a separate invoice for the Taxes/Duty (amps aren't free from Duty, AFAIK) prior to shipping so I did not incur any extra charges when the item actually arrived. It was a nice, smooth transaction.

Super. IMpress by the speed of the answer. I'm happy to see that I have some options to go. For me, the studio would be for sure a kind of nostalgia trip cause when i was younger, the price of these was not in my budget.

But I have to say those Emotiva C2+ are very tempted too. Probably a big boost in my setup.
Budget?
For a buy-once-cry-once scenario, you could get the Paradigm Premier 800F/600C combo through a dealer, if you wanted to upgrade within Paradigm.
Many options from the States either don't ship here, or the pricing is prohibitive.

I concur! Bought an A-300 a little while back and it's still a very good deal with the exchange rate.
