Those banner and online ads for HD-DVD (if you frequent AVS Forum often enough you'll see them) are still touting those obnoxious tag lines ("Six Times...") and are still showing the HD-A1 model. With HD-A2's and HD-XA2's already out why hasn't Toshiba changed the picture in the ad with that of a newer model? And why doesn't Tosh ditch the tag lines and just put the phrase "$499.00 or Lower"? I see this link on several online newspapers and specialty websites (often alternating with competing Blu-ray decks). It would be internet ad money better spent if it started showing the decks potential buyers can actually buy in stores and not the discountinued model. The HD-DVD Group's $150 million promotional budget at work!

yah like $499 wont scare someone away?

think about what would get more attention \\\\\\"with six time the resolution of dvd\\\\\\" or with the \\\\\\"$499 player and cheaper\\\\\\" the price alone will scare people away. now they should put it on the site that the players cost from $199 and up (xbox add on) in big letters dunno if they do already.

How about smaller pictures of all the Toshiba HD-DVD models (which theoretically includes the XBox 360 add-on since Toshiba manufactures it for MS, at least for the time being) and the words Starting at $199*. Clicking the link will make it clear you need an XBox 360 for the $199 add-on, but it will get people to click the effen' banner (which I'm not sure many people do now when the centipede and bullets start moving).

I like this idea. Pop up the add-on, and smaller pics and links to the other players. Since they are all manufactured by Toshiba, and MS is working with them as an HD DVD supporter, I doubt there would be an issue with it.
