TiVo code for Sony STR-DG820 receiver

I forgot to mention that I also tried using the Up Channel button to let the TiVo remote find a code. It found the code to mute the Bravia TV, but the display on the receiver did not change.


I'm not sure how the "find code" feature works, but I cycled through it long enough with no success to make my thumb sore.

sorry but there isn't a code for the factory default codeset of sony receivers, so don't bother attempting a codesearch.


But if you were to switch codesets your receiver responds to, from AV2 to the AV1 codeset, then the codes in your tivo remote would work, see this thread, or your sony manual.

But the Remote Central page referenced does NOT list the 820 (or the 720 or the 520)! Just the 920 from the 2008 budget line.


(I was thinking of buying the 820 until I learned that its owner's manual specifically tells you not to use an HDMI to DVI cable -- which I have to use with my Samsung DLP -- or you may lose video and/or sound.)
