I know its sort of off topic and its not meant as a Tivo v's Replay post. I feel increasing the success of each company validates the industry and can only help each.

Tivo announced earnings tonight. They had 73k subs as of Sep 30 which is a 52% sequential increase. 18k had been predicted and they hit 25k. Consensus EPS was -$2.34 and they managed -$1.71. Revenue increased 39% for the quarter.

Well done Tivo, and I assume ReplayTV has had similar results this quarter (which they are not obligated to make public). PVRs are rolling up just nicely for the xmas season.

Does anyone know how many Replay units have been sold? I can't find a recent count.

I'd be curious to know how Replay is doing as well.

TiVo vs Replay issues aside I love the entire concept of hard disk recording and hope this technology continues to move forward and gain commercial acceptance.

I also wonder if TiVo's profits have anything to do with the massive tv advertising campaign that Sony is doing. I wish Replay and it's partners would up the advertising as well...
