Unhappily, they asked me almost none of the questions that I would have liked to have commented on.

Tivo is a great product with a fanatical customer base. Yet they ignore us. I don't get it.

But you're not being ignored. You've simply made an assumption that that was the survey.

That was just the screener to determine if you get the survey. ;)

I filled out the survey. Good to see that Tivo is interested

in asking actual HDTV fans/users. I personally have held

off buying an HDTV receiver box until the HD Tivo is here.

I want HD and my wife wants TIVO so I need to get one

box that can do both. Marv.

We have a Zenith HD520 and a Sony T60. We are pretty much addicted to the Tivo functionality, though, so the 520 only gets occasional use (Like Leno). Took the 'pre-survey' surbey, and hope that it adds justification for them to speed up the release of the HD Tivo....

It's nice to see a little feedback, or them at least officially asking for feedback (Pony had a thread asking what you would want in an hdtivo once). But this survey seems quite specific.

Perhaps Tivo is feeling the heat from the other companies offering HD prv options (ie motorola 5200 digital cable box w/ hd pvr functions.. in testing this summer, apparantly).

Though I prefer my Replays over Tivo, I am wanting an HD pvr bad enough that the first one to market will get my money.

I've had my T-60 for a couple of years and the SIRT-150 for less than a year. I've been tempted to get an HDTV satellite receiver, but I am holding out for the HDTivo satellite/OTA PVR. The CES announcement and this survey sounds like they finally getting serious with getting one built.

I mentioned in the comment section that, while I have loved my TiVos and would like to see prefer an HD version thereof (being accustomed to its interface and feature-set--tried a Replay and didn't care for it), I will buy the first PVR to hit the market which is capable of recording unscrambled HD QAM cable.

I picked up a Samsung TS-160 last week on the 50% off special at best buy, I'd been waiting for the HD-Tivo before I took the plunge but figured for $250 I couldn't pass it up... Still, I HATE watching live TV (commercials!!) and can't wait for the release of the HD-Tivo. Hopefully in time for NFL playoffs next year!

I have an upgraded Phillips Tivo HD12 that I've had since hmm...3 years or so now...I lived with 14 hours at "Basic Quality recording" for 2 years until I upgraded it myself. I loved it with my old 36" direct-view TV, but now rarely use it since I got my 60" Sony GWII..the MPEG compression on SD cable is really bad and noticeable with an HDTV set even at High Quality...time for HD Tivo!!!!

I currently have a Hipix HTPC to record OTA HDTV...which I control via a Gyration wireless keyboard/mouse combo, but is NOT girlfriend friendly like the Tivo....she misses the days when we used to pause live TV... come on Tivo engineers...make her happy!!!!

QAM Cable based recording would be the best, but not limited to "unscrambled QAM"...no such channels exist in my area...all Cable HDTV QAM is scrambled by Charter. Why not make the unit addressable and replace the Scientific Atlanta 3100HD that I have once my Cable company registers my serial number...or maybe connect via Firewire to soon-to-be-released Scientific Atlanta models and avoid the need for an internal QAM tuner.

Most of the 8-VSB chipsets do QAM too, so you just have the incremental cost of the software support.

As for Firewire, I think it would be great if Tivo were to incorporate such an input on their standalone HDTV PVR. That would make the Tivo compatible with encrypted HDTV from cable (when a cable boxes with Firewire are available), as well as satellite HDTV from Dish Network through the upcoming 211 HDTV receiver.

does anyone know if TIVO will be producing an stand-alone OTA HD-TIVO as well as a DirecTv/HD-TIVO combo? With everything I have going on, I'd like to keep my dual-tuner TIVO alive, and simply add a stand-alone HD-TIVO to my HD receiver. Anyone hear anything?
