TK700STi vs UHD35

Hi,

I am trying to find some comparisons of these two projectors.
They are both good for gaming although I'm curious how they fare in regards to HDR, contrast, colors? And fan noise too.

I've seen people complaining about contrast in the UHD35 but not so much with the TK700STi although it could have been their room setup.

Thanks for any help in advance!

I doubt there's much difference between the UHD35 and TK700STi in contrast or HDR, except that the TK700STi probably has a wider colour gamut and would be perferable for more cinema oriented content. Here's a UHD35 review:

I didn’t see that one but did read the cnet review and they posted a lower native contrast ratio than what I got with the BenQ and, very specifically, they measured a .25 cd/m2 black on their 102” screen while I got .17 cd/m2 on my 100” screen (which is no doubt the culprit for the lower spec).

I responded in more detail in the owners thread.

There's going to be some unit to unit and reviewer to reviewer variation in test results. For myself the throw ratio of the TK700STi doesn't work for me, while the UHD35 would (sort of, I prefer the 95% offset of the HC1040 versus the 105% of the UHD35). Both would be preferable to my workhorse HC1040, IMHO, for web browsing, TV viewing, and far superior for gaming and 4K HDR content. But if I could make the TK700 work, I would probably prefer it.

Possibly but the black level measurement sticks out to me. Unless there was a high degree of ambient light in the room I would not expect the black level to be that much higher.

And, yeah, the Tk700STi’s major selling feature— it’s short throw lens— is not going to work for everyone. Hell, it doesn’t work in my media room although it would have worked in my living room
Assuming we ditched the TV.

Greg measured the UHD35 native CR at around 800-1, but his data on Dynamic Black is a bit odd:

i was neck to neck deciding between the UHD35 and the TK700STi for about a week. Couple things that convinced me to go with the TK700STi

1) I could essentially mount the projector at the same distance as my existing one and gain an additional 40 inches of screen size. For me to get a 150'' image with the UHD35 meant moving it back further an additional 4 feet or so which would put this essentially above my pool table (i would call this more circumstantial)

2) I am existing Optoma owner HD142x and i love it, but there really isn't a ton of super detailed reviews out there for the UHD35 yet. Some comparisons I looked into more were the warranty + support being better as well as some of that evidence provided by others here in the forum

3) I primarily plan to use the projector for gaming but I also watch movies or TV shows most evenings, and was informed that the contrast and color were a bit better on the TK700sti.

4) I think the additional streaming stick is a plus and mitigates most of my needs probably for a Roku with the exception of netflix.

Does these reasons warrant paying an extra $400? For me it does because I wanted to gain more screen size with the same distance and not have a projector mounted above my pool table. Again, some of these are a bit circumstantial i would think -- but I believe thats part of picking the right projector
