I have a Panny AE900U with 1650 hrs on the original bulb. I have a JVC 1080p projector hopefully coming in less than two months. I would like to sell my old projector when the new one arrives. The picture is not as bright as it used to be, but I don't know how much dimmer it is since it has been a slow decline. I have always used low lamp until the most recent movies. Still use low for HDTV programming. The question is, should I replace the lamp now or not? If I do, I get to enjoy a brighter projector, and get more pleasure out of it as I wait for 1080P bliss. If I replace it I also can sell it knowing that I'm giving the buyer a better picture and hopefully a longer life on the bulb. The downside is I will loose some money since I won't get it all back on the sale. So I guess part of my question is - how much brighter will my projector look if I replace the bulb? What should I do given that I''m only going to have it for two more months?

Thanks.

Well, my experience based on replacing lamps at around 1450 hours is that the replacement will make your PJ look brand new again. Quite a shock to your eyes in such a happy way. Another way of looking at it is that it comes out to less than $7 a day (based on a $400 lamp used for 60 days) which is a bit high but in my world it would be worth doing and bring added resale value to it when your new baby arrives. I don't see a downside if you watch the thing several hours everyday.
