Toning down the Red question ?

613 Views 5 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  boswd
I was hoping someone can help me out with this. Sometimes the color red can be a bit too bright. It's not bleeding or out of whack, nothing like that but sometimes it can be a bit much on the eyes. For example when the new Wendy's commericial comes on when the red screen with the Wendy's girls in the middle, it can almost seem like you need sunglasses. But reds on uniforms and such are ok and look natural. The whites on occasion can be the same way, especially when an all white background commericial is on. again no bleeding, and detail is there on programming but these two seem to stick out at times. Any help with be appreciated,

These are my settings

Backlight - 60

Contrast - 50

Brightness - 45

Color - 50

tint - 0

Sharpness - 4

Picture mode - Standard

Color Temp - Warm

DCR - Off

Adaptive Luma - off

DNR - normal

Thanks again for any help.

It would be nice if you could at least include the model of your tv.
What display do you have? It definitely sounds like the contrast is too high if your whites are too bright at times.

by display do you mean the brand? If so it's the Vizio VO32L
another example on the red's being too bright and then ok is During the US Open finals, when there was a long distance shot of Tiger Woods, his shirt was a bit too bright but when there were up close shots of him, his shirt was perfect, could see details in the design and the folds of his shirt.

The exact same thing on the white's, I'll try toning down the contrast and see if that helps with the whites, but for example when watching baseball, the uniforms would be perfect, again can make out great detail and the folds in the uniforms but when it breaks away to a commercial that has a dominant white background it's like blinding but the programing is just fine. It's weird.
