Saw a too good to be true price for Samsung HLNs (50" and 61") on ebay. The no reserve price auction from buythings_direct ended yesterday. He is asking some unbelievable price for HLN507W and HLN617w.

I am waiting for a powerbuy price on HLN617w. Seems like ebay price is better than would be powerbuy price. Any thoughts?

Thoughts: I would check the sellers feedback to determine if it is made up of feedback related to big ticket sales. many sellers have large feedback made up of $20-100 buys and sells. They then roll out a deal to good to be true on big ticket items.

I would also make sure that you can pay with a CC and ask the seller if you can pickup the TV if you won the auction. I would ask even if you don't intend to pick up. The seller will not be as likely to BS you on the stock status if he thinks your likely to schedule a pick up.

Many of the E bay-ers who have been listing these tv have been listing stock which they don't have yet. So I would walk carefully.

Lastly, I would ask myself how much the savings are worth to me. You are assuming a level of risk regarding the return of the set. If you get the set and decide that it is too large too small or whatever you will likely find it more difficult to get an rma than dealing locally. In my mind I would have to save a minimum of $600+ dollars to make it worth the risk. Just my opinion. I bought the HLM507W local and exchanged it hassle free for a HLN617 when I realized it was to small.

Also all the HLN's were withdrawn from sale because they were not available. (Check completed items to verify this.) The seller was also new to ebay since their was shades next to the name. (This means less than 30 days or the seller changed his name.)

Darn it Les, I was just about to offer him this great, I mean really really prime, parcel of land in Florida. Maybe it's land only 4 months out of the year, but still...
