Hi all, found this great site as I started looking to replace my 9 year old htib when it imploded. After a few weeks, I decided on a Pioneer SC-35 as my AV receiver. Now the really hard part..... speakers. Room is approx 15x30 with TV viewing area in first half of space. 8' ceilings. So I been out listening to a few speaker sets. Like the Mirage, kinda liked the lower end Polks. Did not like the ML's (sounded murky, could've been the room). With this limited knowledge (and knowing how subjective speaker choices are), looking for feedback on building my own 5.1 system:


Mirage OMD5 - 2 surrounds

Mirage OMD15 - 2 front towers

Mirage OMDc1 - center

HSU - VTf-1 sub


OR

buy something like the NHT Abolute 5.1 "package"


Cost is within spitting distance of each and within budget.

Just looking for some feedback to get me off the fence, or open up new choices.

Which Absolute 5.1 package are you thinking about? Towers? Bookshelf? Combo?


If looking at Mirage OMD speakers, check vanns.com. They're an authorized dealer and cost way less than the OMDC1 that is linked on ebay. Plus Vanns is having a call in right now so you can get an even bigger discount if you speak to a rep.

Yes, Vann's is where I got my quote. Like the whole decision going back and forth. I like the towers, but I also have 2 young kids, and the wife is not a lover of "technology".... Appreciate the response.
