I feel like it’s just ok, the music is good but I really don’t like the way Maynard is singing, like the recent APC record. Really high pitched, it grates my ears lol. But good ol tool, 10min song and it never feels that long. I feel like Maynard really doesn’t care, I know singers age but like pro sports players as they lose their rawness they have to come up with other ways to compete, like with singing they could add harmonies or effects but no he just sings with an annoying voice. I know it would never happen but if I had composed that beautiful song and Maynard came in and did his thing it’s like- uh try harder please.

Pre-ordered mine from Deep Discount. It'll be on its way soon enough.

One thing I'm curious about this CD is its purported running time of 85 minutes. Is that even possible for a redbook CD? I mean, one side, one layer, with a standard maximum capacity of 80 minutes of music, and they tacked on an extra 5 minutes somehow? I'd love to know how they did it. The longest single CD I ever knew of was the Mission of Burma compilation Rykodisc put out in the '80s, and that ran 80:05, before they managed to extend the running time on CDs from 75 minutes to 80. Even Metallica's Load gives out at 78:59, so to see a single CD that breaks 80 minutes these days is a big deal to me.

UPDATE: It just occurred to me that some of the material is only available in the download, provided with the CD purchase. The track listing was released today, and there are three tracks that don't appear on the CD itself, only in the download. Still, even without these tracks, if the CD itself still manages to break the 80 minute mark, I will still be quite surprised.

They way they compose everything is just spot on for me. I could listen to just Danny Carey play drums tbh, everyone else is just attempting to play the drums in comparison. The vibe on this song is awesome, beginning to end. Reminds me of Wings for Marie at beginning

I was surprised it broke the top 100, let alone its 10 minutes long is crazy.

Their entire discography is only recently available digitally, they all hit the Billboard in some fashion. Pretty epic stuff. Will it save us from electro pop rap? Probably not, but as for myself I'm gonna move the drywall at home tonight.

Dudes, this is a sonic assault, probably aggravated. Call the cops.

Track Two, Pneuma, from Fear Inoculum.

Dew drips down the green reeds as the Silverback gorilla eases into a seated position. The mists of the jungle floor part ways for his body.

As your last breaths leave your lungs, you look into his eyes and wonder if he is in the same intimate moment as you. The moment your flesh failed.

The Silverback peers down on you, he understands you're over.

The whole album is up on Apple music and I would assume other streaming sources. Who did you pre-order from? That's a long delay for a physical copy.

Yeah, I have it DL. I had credit so it was coming from Target. I assume the date is just random:rolleyes:

Im still a fan of physical copies.

Overall great effort by them.

So far in order my favorites are
1Pneuma this is classic Tool
2Fear Inoculum like the mid eastern vibe

Plus the physicals have different art and even a lcd screen in the special editions.

Still digging this record very much. It does not lend itself to just riding around jamming. I feel I need to plant myself in the study and push the drywall apart.

It's an absolute monster of audio. Multiple layers everywhere.

Agreed. Song 4 onwards it's a different album, Start at the beginning songs 1 thru 3 come from a different place. Once upon a time people might have listened to something like this, using certain plant based substances.:D
