I am hoping to trade in my Yamaha HTR6080 for the RXV1800. A local guy said he would accept a trade if I pay $650 plus tax. Do you think this is a good deal?


I am looking for a HDMI 1.3 receiver since I notice a lag between audio and video with my HTR 6080.


I also want to bitstream the audio from my blu ray player and have the receiver do everything.


I do notice that Yamaha has the 1900 coming out so I want to try and get a good deal on the 1800. Any suggestions?

I did what YOU should do, which was check some sites for 1800 prices. Best price I found on the 1800 was $850, and that was not from an authorized dealer.


Which makes $650 at least a $200 savings. Probably higher if you insist on buying from an authorized dealer (and you should.) Can you get $200-$300 for the 6080 from anywhere else? I leave that as an exercise for the reader.

Thanks for your reply. I can't find any dealers that are selling the 1800 for under $1K. Where do you normally shop and where did you find the $850.

On Boxing day, the 1800 was selling for $699 brand new at several GTA shops.
