I have a Toshiba 61hx70 (no dvd squeeze) & I bought the sd3750 and so far it looks really good, but i was wondering what setting to use on the DVD player. Are these the best setting. So far I have it set as follows:

TV shape: 4:3LB

Progressive 4:3 output: FULL

Progressive Conversion: AUTO

One other big question. How much better is a HTPC DVD running at 540p/1080I on this RPTV going to be? Will i really notice the differance? Will my kids/wife notice the differance? Is it worth the extra hassle? All advise welcome.........thanks

my PC: P3/1gz 256MEM SBlive(value) ATI aiw128-pro

so does your set upconvert 480i to 480p or 540p ?

are you happy with the deinterlacing? any artifacts or smudgy picture? will your set accept an HD 540p/1080i image?

i think you will find that an htpc will without question provide a better dvd image although external svideo sources may be a trade off as while you can create a higher quality image you will likely also be adding a small amount of video noise.

for an inexpensive capture card with low noise you might consider the iomagic pcpvr which sells for 40.00 although there are many dscaler compatible cards.
